Boston Celtics To Be Without Kristaps Porzingis in Round 2
Michael Laughlin-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics’ quest for an NBA Championship just got a bit harder, as it has been recently announced that Kristaps Porzingis will be out until at least the Eastern Conference Finals.

With the Celtics seeking to rebound from a disappointing playoff run last year, the team looked to be playing some very good basketball besides an anomaly of a loss to the Miami Heat at home in the second game of their series.

Unfortunately for the Celtics, their quest to win a title might have got a tad bit harder, as it was recently announced that Kristaps Porzingis will be out until at least the Eastern Conference Finals.

The loss of Porzingis is a significant one for the Celtics, as he had a very strong first season in Boston, and fit well next to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. In 57 games in the regular season, Porzingis averaged 20.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and shot over 50 percent from the field.

Porzingis’ ability to score 20 points a night will be something that the Celtics certainly miss leading up to the Eastern Conference Finals. With a potential series looming with the high-scoring Indiana Pacers, the Celtics are going to need all the scoring they can get to advance to the next round.

With Porzingis already being ruled out until at least the ECF, one has to wonder if that is truly when he will be back. While Porzingis is a very talented big man in the league, staying on the court has been an issue for him.

The most number of games Porzingis has ever played in a season was as a rookie with the New York Knicks, which was 72 games. This season, Porzingis played in just 57, as keeping him healthy has not been an easy task.

While Boston will still be favored in the second round without Porzingis, the road to the ECF just got a bit harder.
